Home Warming - A Home with Open Arms

I mentioned in one of my previous posts that i purchased 2 really good books a while back. :) This second one is called, "Home Warming...." Its one of my favourite books! The pictures in it also are just so pretty and lovely to look at! I have not actually read this whole book yet, so i will be posting it on here. That way i can read it, as well as hopefully bring a smile to someone else's face, too! I hope you enjoy it as much as i am so far! The pictures in it are just so so so pretty, too!

The back of the book reads as follows.... :-)

...."Why do we love certain houses? Why do they seem to love us? It is the warmth of our individual hearts reflected in our surroundings...
Emilie invites you to transform a house into a home by adding your personality, style, and gracious spirit to every room. From the Entryway to the kitchen to the living room, special touches create spaces that welcome friends, neighbours and family members to the hearth of your heart.
When you discover the simple joy of expressing yourself, a home is no longer just a place to live, it is a place to create a life rich with texture, dimension, and beauty... it is a place to love and be loved...."

I do believe our homes are suppose to be inviting and welcoming to all of those who may enter. A place of comfort and refuge for our families. A place to relax and know that its our peaceful rest which we call.... Home.
Have you ever walked into a home where you just didnt feel welcome? Or everything around you was such a shamozzle its the first thing you noticed and you felt uneasy? Or whatever the case may be! Dont you just feel so nice and relaxed when things at home are in order and running smoothly, and things are nice and clean and welcoming? I know i do! Definately!

So come along this journey with me of learning all about making our homes a more welcoming place, not only for others, but also our familes and ourselves, too! I promise it is surely going to be lovely! :) Perhaps you already know everything that will be said, but at least it will be fun to hear it over again, right? haha.... So i hope you enjoy!

And now... the first part of the book, from Author, Emilie Barnes. Enjoy!

"Home! That was what they meant, those caressing appeals, those soft touches wafted through the air, those invisible little hands pulling and tugging, all one way!...." Kenneth Grahame

Don't you just love the phrase, "at home"?
To me it says so much about being cozy in my own nest, about where i belong, about tending to the most important parts of my life. Being at home means savouring that sense of safety and retreat, even when i am hard at work. The world may be whizzing by outside, but here i am safe, tranquil, peaceful and productive. At home.

My favourite days are the ones i spend here, working side by side with my bob, or putting together a snack for our grandchildren or just puttering around by myself. And i love to welcome other people in, for being at home to me is closely tied with making others feel at home.
"Come on in," I love to tell them. "Come on in. You are very welcome here."
That is why i'm honored when a guest says to me, "I just love to come and visit here, its so peaceful!" That sense of peace and rest is what Bob and i have intentionally worked on instilling here at our home.
Thats why i love to say yes when friends and family ask us, "May we have our wedding, or party, or reception at your place?" For many years Bob and i have found great joy in sharing our home and our life with others.
We have always wanted a home that holds out open arms to us and to others. We have wanted a home where guests feel like family, but where family members feel like honored guests.

I invite you to come for a visit in this book, to relax and think and dream about what it means to make a welcoming home - for yourself and others. I want to invite you into my world, my home, and share with you this life i love so much. I want you to think with me about what it is that makes a house seem to open up its arms to family and guests alike. How do you achieve a sense of welcome in your home and life? The answers for you are as personal as your house, as unique as your personality, but i hope you will find some ideas and inspiration in this book.

Perhaps you will pick up some tips, or be encouraged to make yourself more at home in your own life. Perhaps you will simply enjoy flipping through the pages, thinking with joy and gratitude of your own "at home" experiences. Or perhaps you will start dreaming about what you would like to do in a someday house.
At any rate, i hope you will very welcome.
Most of all.. I hope you will feel at home.
