Well, well... Are we all glad Christmas is over? :)
I tell you, I definately am glad it is! We definately had a lovely Christmas, nice and relaxing and quiet spending time with family. We are in Sydney at the moment, spending some time with Gran and Dan's dad. It has been so hot up here too! Seems to be hotter than Canberra. I was so amazed at HOW GREEN everything is! Praise God for the rain that we have had lately, it has rained at least once every week in december i am sure of it! It's been fantastic! Usually when you drive up this way, at this time of the year, you are use to seeing all the dead, brown and lifeless grass and plants, so that made me smile. :-) We will be heading home probably tomorrow sometime.
Being New Years Eve and all, i thought i would do a quick post about some things that i have learnt and am thankful for in this year just gone by. The Lord has definately taught me alot of lessons, and things throughout this year, and i am hopeful for the new year ahead.
In March this year, i married the love of my life, Dan. :)
The last 8 months have been humbling, challenging, and very rewarding. Marriage definately isnt easy, and we have both learnt that these last few months. We still have alot to learn, and alot of areas to improve and grow in too. Dan mentioned to me a little while ago, that someone once told him that the first year of marriage is the hardest. I think so far, i would have to agree with him. I'm not saying that it's been terrible, because it hasnt. :) It's been wonderful, i am so very thankful for a husband that supports me, who is loving and kind, generous and most of all faithful to the Lord. He is so many more things aswell, but to list them all... oh dear.. i would be here all day! Haha! I know, we all have our faults and challenges, and weaknesses that we need to overcome. If there is one thing about myself that i have learnt this year is that I am in great need of patience. I often find myself complaining about many things within, when i stop and think about it, i find that there are plenty of people who have it alot worse off. May the Lord teach me to be thankful! :-)

Change. This year i have gone from working a full time job, to being a full time housewife. That hasnt been easy to get use too, but i am enjoying the challenges it brings. Some of you may think, "Challenging? What can be so challenging about being a housewife???" haha, Well let me tell you... there are plenty. Especially if your use to working and then going to a full time homemaker, it can be a HUGE change to get use too, and i am still learning the importance of making good use of my time, and how to be organised as each day goes by. I will get there eventually. :-) But am enjoying it along the way, very much.
I look forward to the changes that lie ahead in 2009. I am sure our faith will be tried and tested in so many ways... may we always have the Lord as our strength through it all.

I have many many more things to be thankful for too! Don't we all? But seeming it is now a quarter to midnight, and the fireworks will be starting very soon, i guess i better get going! :)
I wish each and every one of you, a fulfilling and prosperous new year ahead. May it bring much joy to you all, and even though it is bound to have challenges and so forth... may we always strive for greater heights, and higher ground.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! :)
PS: My poor old husband is sitting next to me, and has just vomited about 3 times! WHAT A GREAT WAY to welcome the new year in eh? NOT... i hope he feels better soon. :-( Best go and give him lots of hugs...
Love,
Melissa

happy new year!!! glad you got to spend time with family :) :) 2008 was a pretty good year to get married, i think :) :)
Hi Wendy
I'm not sure if I"ve left a comment here or not before. I've only started reading just before Christmas. I have to post about the hot you mentioned, I just couldn't resist! I live in the Wheatbelt in WA and we had 44.c yesterday. The hottest I've ever been in!
Also I understand exactly what you mean about going from fulltime work to fulltime housewife, I went through the same thing when I was 7mths pregnant with my first child. You're used to being busy with no real meaning to it (depending on the job you had). Now you have the chance to put your heart and soul into your husband and home. Feel free to email me (see my profile) anytime, I'm happy to share my soon to be 13years of marriage with you.
