Bushfires.....

Some of you would have heard about the terrible bush fires we are having here in Australia at the moment, in Victoria. So far, 131 lives have been lost, and they are saying that that figure could rise in the next couple of days. 750 homes have been destroyed, and it is the worst bushfires in Australias History. Whole, entire townships have been completed gutted and have disapeared in the fires.

My heart is broken for these people that have lost everything, family, their homes, beloved pets and their whole lives, everything they have known. It makes me thankful for what i have. So many people tonight do not have loved ones to go home to, nor do they have a home to go to..... I think this would be the worst way to die.... they had no warning, no time to escape. So please keep these victims in your prayers, and also pray for those that are responsible. Some of the fires are said to have been lit deliberately, by people that somehow find lighting fires amusing. They get a thrill from it. Sick... is all i can say. Lets light them on fire, and see how they feel....May the Lord comfort those hearts of those that need comfort, and give rest to loved ones. May he give the firefighters, and volunteers that sacrifice their time and their lives for others, strength to go on.
One thing i love about my country, is that in time of great hardship, and heartache, is our ability to pull together as a nation and help our fellow countrymen, and those less fortunate.

And how pathetic... the government, good ole Mr Krudd, is giving .... get this... only $1000 to Adults, and i think it was something like $400 to kids.... yet he gives billions away to other nations.. yet he cant even help his own people.... :( Anyway, dont even get me started!

Enjoy your week everyone!

Love,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
The weekends events are just so tragic, no words can describe what has taken place. Normally I am quite a chatty person, but today I was very quiet, what more can be said....

Not going to start a argument, but my response is "Can you put a monetary value on a human life?" No. At least the govt and people in Australia are getting in and helping each other out. Don't know what else really to say, sad but there is always a light on the horizon in any disaster, perhaps gotta just find it and focus on it.
