Oh dear... :-/

Can you believe it? This morning, i went downstairs to Abby who was playing merrily in her little pen thing, haha and all of a sudden she started too..... BARK!

NOT Good! One of the rules that they have in the townhouses we live in is that if you have a dog, she must be quiet! It's the first time i have heard her bark, lol and it was quite amusing to say the least! After telling her consistantly "NO, NO, NO" and giving her a smack she quietly shut up. Haha But hmmmm Does anyone have any tips on how to teach a dog not to bark? I mean, i dont mind if he barks occasionally, but my goodness all the time, i will get into trouble and i don't want anyone complaining!

Let me know if you have any tips!

Not being a dog expert the only advice I have to offer is to be consistent :).

Thanks for stopping by my blog and introducing yourself. I love your blog and will be back! It's nice to "meet" you ;).

Go to the library and get some books on different techniques. This way you and Dan can agree on one and you both need to stick with it. It takes a while to learn but they will eventually get it if you are both on the same track.

Yes, a bark collar is a very good idea, especially if she is mostly barking when you are not around her.

If she is barking in front of you, however, you can get a spray bottle and fill it with diluted vinegar, I think it's like 40% vinegar to 60% water, to spray in her face when she barks. It won't hurt her, but it will be an unpleasant experience for her that she will soon link to barking. Bark = Squirt. Therefore, Bark = No fun. :)

In all fairness though, isn't barking one of the things that makes a dog a dog?
